Arrrr it be that time again maties!!!

2nd Annual Talk Like a Pirate Day Celebration!

Avast me hearties! Comin' up be t' International Talk Like a Pirate Day, one o' t' more under-appreciated holidays on t' calendar. In celebration o' this fine day I be invitin' you all for a bike ride around Pasadena. Pirate garb, pirate talk and above all pirate jokes be welcomed!

At 7:30 p.m. we will merge with more buccaneers at Memorial Park (Pasadena, CA) so if you can't make it with us at 6:30 p.m. now you can meet us at 7:30 p.m., arrrrrr!

After we are through carousing around Pasadena, we head t' t' local pub (The Old Towne Pub) and drink the local grog and enjoy the local band around 9. Hope t' see you thar!

When: Saturday, Sept. 19th, 2009

What (time): Meeting at 6:30 p.m., leave at 7:00 p.m

Where I: Grant Park (corner of Cordova St. and S. Michigan Ave.), Pasadena, CA 91106
This is where I will be, Captain Red Bess Bonney, I will have free booty (um, prizes, not butt) for those who show. First come, first served--yarrr!!

Why: Celebrate International Talk Like a Pirate Day

How: Whatever you see fit but pirate jokes and really bad pirate talk are a must.

This be an easy paced ride, all types o' bicycles welcomed. We observe all rules of the roads, any mutineers walks the plank---ARR!!!

*Pub only accepts cash--so bring some, arr!
**Other things to bring: bike lock, ID, fix-a-flat kit, lights for the front and back o' your bicycle, and most importantly your pirate spirit!!

Any mutineers who disobey California traffic laws WALKS THE PLANK. I don't want anybody being a douchebag and running red lights and overall doing anything stupid/illegal.

For people 18 and over: although it's perfectly legal to not wear a helmet while cycling, I personally think it's a really great way to lose some precious gray matter in a matter of seconds. Yes, the pace of this ride is going to be slow and gentle but you never know when some idiot is not paying attention.

For people 18 and younger: penal codes dictate that you must wear a helmet while operating a bicycle.

My recommendation: wear a helmet, it's cheap insurance.; ▶ Reply to This
