We Cause Scenes

Hello fellow Improvers!

Agent Ashley Merrill here. I wanted to take the time to write to everyone to let you know that Improv SLC is not dead! Despite the lack of missions this year, we are still around; and will be having new missions upcoming soon! I would like to take this chance to apologize for not having organized any missions lately. My personal life has been hell this past year, and unfortunately hasn't been conducive to having much fun. It takes A LOT of hard work and effort to pull off a mission, especially when doing it by myself as I have in the past. With my life as it has been, I just haven't been up for it.

Earlier this year I put out a call for people to work with me on a management team, as well as various other positions. At first I had several eager responses, but when it actually came down to doing any work I had ONE person really step up to the plate (thank you, Tyler!) That was really discouraging, and upsetting. It seems that everyone wanted to do the fun parts of Improv, but didn't want to put in any work to make it happen. As I mentioned, my personal life has been crazy, so I decided to take a break from doing Improv; until now! So here I am once again, putting out the call! Our group has grown tremendously since last time, so I'm hoping that at least a few of you will be willing to put in the work that it takes to make our missions the amazingly fun and entertaining events they can be!

I will be putting together a team to head up Improv SLC. This team will get together once a month in the Salt Lake City area to come up with ideas for missions, plan missions, put together all the logistics and whatever else needs to be done to pull a mission off. The idea of this team is to have enough members so that not just one person has to take on all the work. That way each person will have a little work, and a lot of fun! Members of this team will be expected to:

- Attend monthly meetings.
- Keep in contact with team members via email, the Improv SLC websites, phone, etc.
- Put in the time, effort, and work necessary to plan and carry out successful improv missions.
- Participate in Improv SLC missions.
- Have fun!

If this sounds like something you would be interested in doing, please contact me at QueenQuill@gmail.com. Please tell me why you would like to be a part of this team, what experience you have with Improv SLC or other improv groups (experience NOT necessary to be on this team!), what skills you have that you think might be useful to this team, and a little bit about yourself. This is totally informal, so please be yourself!

In addition to the management team, we are also in need of the following:

- People willing to attend the Improv SLC missions and take pictures (these people usually act as bystanders rather than as being part of the mission.) You don't need to have any special photography skills or equipment, just a digital camera and willingness to help out. You won't be expected to attend every mission, just let us know if you'd be available for taking photos during a mission or two.

- People willing to attend the Improv SLC missions and take video of them. The requirements are the same as listed above for photographers, except you'll need a digital video camera (or a way to upload your video to computer so that it can be sent online.)

- We are also looking for people that have any video or photo editing skills, website development skills, or any other skills that you think might help Improv SLC.

We would like to capture Improv SLC missions on photo and video and share these with the world. If you think you could help with this, let us know! Please email QueenQuill@gmail.com if you are interested in doing any of these things, or have any ideas that would help better Improv SLC.

Thanks again for your interest in Improv SLC. We look forward to seeing you at upcoming missions!

Regards,
Agent Ashley Merrill

Some people have asked for more information about the management team, and what it's responsibilities will be. I've outlined them here:

The management team for Improv SLC will be in charge of planning missions for the group, putting the missions together, seeing the missions through, and sharing our results with the world. This includes:

* Coming up with ideas for missions - we can either do this ourselves, use suggestions that other Improv SLC agents have suggested, or do missions similar to missions that other improv groups have done.

* Putting together the logistics for missions - The "what, where, and when." Deciding on dates/times for the missions, deciding where to have the missions, getting permission to use the location if needed, checking the laws to make sure that we're allowed to do what we have planned, etc.

* Getting the word out about the missions - Emailing the various social networking groups related to Improv SLC (Facebook, Urban Prankster Network, MySpace, etc.) to invite people to participate.

* Finding people to document the missions - We want people to photograph and video our missions so that we can share them with the world.

* Organize after-mission parties: We'd like to start having get-togethers after the missions. Either meeting up at a local restaurant, coffee shop, park or whatever.

* Publishing our missions - Putting videos and pictures on the group websites (Facebook, Urban Prankster network, MySpace, and hopefully in the future our own website.)

Management team members will need to commit to the following:

* Attend management meetings once a month (will always be in the SLC area.)
* Attend and participate in Improv SLC missions.
* Keep in contact with other management team members via email, the group websites, telephone, or whatever.
* Put in the time, effort, and work necessary to plan and carry out successful improv missions.
* Have A LOT of fun!

If this sounds like something you would be interested in doing, please let me know. Please reply to me with the following:

* Why do you want to be a part of Improv SLC's management team?
* What experience you have with Improv SLC or other improv groups (experience NOT necessary to be on this team!)
* What skills you have that you think might be useful to this team?
* Tell me a little bit more about yourself.

If this sounds like something you would be interested in doing, please contact me at QueenQuill@gmail.com. This is totally informal, so please be yourself! I look forward to hearing from you!

Regards,
Agent Ashley
