I've been in touch with both the Mayor's office and Seattle Parks and Rec. Dept. They are absolutely fine with the pillow fights. They even expressed how much they enjoyed the photos and videos ;-) Dewey Potter, manager of Superintendents for Seattle Parks and Rec. was wonderful. She's very pro-pillow fight and said specifically she didn't want them to stop. She was hadn't seen the news and was very surprised to hear about all the negative press. SO... FIGHT IS STILL ON!!!!!!!
Hey Brooke, I was walking down 6th ave. I just got an idea. Why don't we find a bubble machine? There's a store on 6th and Steward (I think) that always runs their bubble machine in the summer. As far as I know, no one has complained about it in the past 3 summers.
What do you think?
I know it's Pillowfight day, but if there is going to be a pillowfight on uw campus, shouldn't it be during classes, as the 22nd is right in the middle of spring break? Why not have the 22nd fight at pikes, and another on campus.
This is a different sort of event. We usually like to have our fights in very public locations to entertain and confuse passers by. This is a fight strickly for the fighters. We just needed a space that was easy to locate and could house everyone for an undetermined length of time. This fight will last as long as the toughest fighter does. It's not one of our 5 minute bouts. Keeping everyone contained in a shopping center or on a busy street corner for who knows how long would be a bit much.
The fight on the 29th had already been planned and posted in more than 70 places by the time we were contacted about World Pillow Fight Day, way too late to make any changes :-)
Just a little heads up- I've already been contacted by King 5 (The news station) They'll be covering the UW Red Square Pillow Fight. In fact, they want some stock pillow fighting footage so they're going to come out and film a pillow fight this weekend. Everyone is welcome!! They're going to use it during the King 5 morning show on Friday 21st, when they interview the Seattle Pillow Fight Club about World Pillow Fight Day. You're all welcome to come to that interview as well. They want as many pillow fighters in the live segment as possible.
I'll post this Sunday's pillow fight location tonight or tomorrow. Contact me for more info.
There is a Seattle Pillow Fight Club fight on the 29th, yes :-) We had already planned that fight when we were approached about organizing the Seattle Battle for World Pillow Fight Day. So, we're having 2 fights, 2 weekends in a row.
They are different formats though. The WPFD Battle is a free-for-all, no time limit, last man standing bout. Fight until you drop ;-) Sat. Mar. 22nd, 6pm
The SPFC fight on the 29th (At Pike Place Market, corner of Pike and Pine) is a flash mob pillow fight. Conceal your pillow, wait for the whistle, 3 minute crazy swinging battle then stop at the second whistle and walk away like nothing happend. Then head to the Whiskey Bar to have drinks with everyone you were just swinging on (which can be way more fun than the actual pillow fight and is a terrific place to meet people who are organizing cool events in the city.) Sat. Mar 29th, 3:15pm.
They'll both be a lot of fun, very different feel to them though.

No matter what, come fight it out! Fantastic people and a good cardio workout, followed by flirtatious networking.
We are going to be holding a meeting at Short Pump Mall on Saturday November 28th at 1:30 AM. We will be sitting in the food court, and everyone is welcome to attend. We need ideas
