I had an idea today; it's a spin on one of the classic Improv Everywhere missions, but I think it's a brilliant one. You know hte one where a whole bunch of people put on matching blue polo shirts and khaki pants, and then go stand in Best Buy loo...

The person who was going to write the song for our original musical seems to have vanished; is there anybody here with song-writing experience who wants to work on this?

That's a great one, to be sure. It doesn't interfere with our super-secret idea (ixnay on the aintray-ationstay, we haven't mentioned that part yet) in several key respects... * it's in Belgium * it's a dance performed to a very well-known song *...

A lot of people toss out ideas expecting that the group will take them and make them happen. That's not how it's supposed to work; we are all "the group" and we have to make things happen. If somebody proposes an idea, it's up to them to either t...

We don't do pranks. We alter reality. Pranks are for children. I really really hate the name Todd saddled us with. When it was Improv Everywhere, nobody talked about pranks.

JIm- tell me what you think about this: I can probably get Backstage West to donate some free space for us to advertise auditions for one, non-paid performance. The theatre sends them a bunch of business. We hold auditions for two actors- an attractive young couple who can both belt. We pick a song that is a duo love song or something where they "speak" back and forth in song. We rehearse local agents as ensembles, to sing and dance with the number. I'm positive that we can talk two quality singers into doing this in this town.
We also have a costume of 5,000 costumes if we need a particular period or type of clothing.
Your thoughts?

Any ideas on what type of musical and choreography? I'm brand new to all this, but I've always thought it would be hilarious for a musical to spontaneously erupt in a public setting. I'll give it some thought and talk with our choreos and vocal directors.

I help run a community theatre in NW Orange County- the La Habra Depot Theatre- with another member. We can most likely use the theatre as a rehearsal/meeting place and scare up some choreos and music directors to teach everyone a routine. I don't have the time to organize the entire deal, but we could handle the rehearsal/meeting part of the plan. We would have to seek board approval for the meeting, but I'm pretty sure we can get it.
Thanks

Yeah, i went and read a book with a cup of coffee for a half hour just to see if anyone would show. So I figured I will have to do something differently. I have been pretty busy since then. I guess I'll have to engineer something, maybe as simple as email so that we can plan and confer. We can't do it here.

Arrr me hearty!

This is just a reminder that tomorrow is the International Talk Like a Pirate Day Bicycle Ride. We meet at 6:30 p.m. at Grant Park in Pasadena. The park is located at 1200 Cordova Ave. in Pasadena (91106). Meet at the corner of Michigan and Cordova.

This is a short ride but along the way we will yell to the crowds/each other some really awesome pirate jokes. It would be awesome if someone had a pirate flag (skulls and crossbones, perhaps) as I had trouble locating one.

Ah yes, please make sure to bring some booty (doubloons, that is) as we are ending our ride at the Old Towne Pub and they only accept cash. Bring a lock and necessary flat repair items (just in case). The pub is close to the Memorial Park Gold Line Station--in case you need a train ride home.

The route: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2273755

Oh yes, if we get there before 8:30 p.m. we avoid the $5 dollar cover charge so we take off at 7:00 p.m. promptly--more money for grog!!!!

ARRRRR!!!!!! See you there Buccanneers!

I thought we could have the Pasadena/SPas/SGV people organize our own missions and invite all the gLA members to participate if they wanted to. I really want to do some of this stuff.

Issues that GuerilLA needs to address

I dropped out of the group for a while because I didn't like some things I saw happening. I still don't like those things, but I believe they are gradually being addressed. But in the meanwhile, I feel I should document what I see as potential areas of conflict and difficulty for the group.

First and foremost is the problem of emulating the NY group, either intentionally or just by osmosis. Agent Todd runs his group in a very top-down manner; he comes up wit the ideas and then tells the members… Continue
