Our next mission is creating a spontaneous conga line—with over 20 drummers—on the Pearl Street Mall. For the mall Freeze, we had about 150 of us. We could easily get 200-300 of us to show up and start the conga line and end up with lots of other people people joining in! Everyone who was at the Mall Freeze had a blast. We will again with the Pearl Street Mall Conga! Join us!

Date: Sunday, June 29
Time: 12:30 PM (please be on time)
Location: Conga line dancers meet on the parking lot on the north side of the Boulder County Courthouse (tall stone building on the north side of the Pearl St. mall between 13th and 14th). Drummers meet and set up somewhere in front of the courthouse, facing the mall. Daya Khalsa will be organizing the drummers. People walking the mall won't pay much notice to drummers setting up.

After we behind the courthouse are primed for our mission, we'll walk out onto the mall (staying on the block between 13th and 14th) and blend in. Mame Kakes, who will lead the line (in full Mardi Gras regalia), will stay near 13th street, because that will end up being the head of the line. As soon as the drumming starts, all of us go from randomly milling around, and immediately snap into one line facing west and doing the conga kick (when we gather behind the courthouse, I'll tell you the strategy so we all end up kicking in the same direction). Mame is in place to lead, and we're off! We could wind all over the courthouse lawn and sidewalks, and through that block on the mall itself, pulling in lots of new people. We'll stay on that block because of the drum sounds. Someone will be in charge of gauging when the public's interest is fading. S/he will signal Mame to lead the line into the crowded part of the mall and signal the drummers to get ready to stop. The drummers will all stop on the same beat on cue from Daya. When this happens, dancers immediately leave the line and just walk on the mall, talking, mingling, and acting as if nothing happened! Organized chaos!

The site of us randomly milling around, then magically and instantly forming into a dance line (all kicking in the same direction) and when it's over instantly blending into the crowd as if nothing has happened - now THAT'S cool! Reminds me of a classic scene form the movie, "The Fisher King" where everyone is bustling in Grand Central Station, then simultaneously they all start waltzing together, then simultaneously all end their dance and blend back into the bustling (if you haven't seen it, it's great). The scene of us randomly milling around, then magically and instantly forming into a dance line, then when through instantly blending back into the crowd—that will be REALLY cool video on YouTube (we are planning on having four videographers, and we'll then edit it all together)!

Bring some food to share that doesn't require utensils or plates (there'll be a place to put it during our "mission") and we'll have a potluck afterwards on the courthouse lawn.

If you’re a drummer and can join us, email me. If you know other drummers, please forward this email to them. We already have lot of drummers, but welcome more.

There is an "Improv Everywhere" website full of people worldwide doing wild stuff like this. We now have an official local group on that website: http://improveverywhere.ning.com/group/boulderimprov Sign up. It's free and no hassle, just a way to keep in the loop. Lots of amazingly cool videos and other events on this site. Other local improv groups have created hundreds of fun events. Now it's our turn.

PLEASE forward this email to your friends.

hi tammy,

Hey Tammy,
I noticed you are in the CNY group, and as a Syracuse native, I hope you can cause some ruckus in the Cuse. And most definitely join us when you get back to CO.

faz mais sentido cada grupinho apontar para um carro qualquer e começar a acenar, tipo ao calhas, até que a pessoa repare.
