we need to have people all around the u.s. maybe even the world, call up all the big news stations, im talking cnn, msnbc, whatever. and in a very coordinated placement of calls well say theres somthing flying through the air maybe a flash of light, or even somthing like a ufo. if this was to be done it would have to be a very large number of people, maybe 1000 agents or so across the u.s
I think this could be awesome, but you would definitely need a lot of people. You mention 1000 people, if that was evenly dispersed across the US then we'd have 20 people per state. I think we could do much better than that. I think this is a mission that non-agents could get excited about and if we called our family and friends, I'm sure we could bump that number up to at least 50 per state.
The biggest problem here would probably be be if the media starts ignoring our calls without recognizing or appreciating the scope of the mission. I'm not sure the best way to prevent that, but here's my suggestion:
Begin the recruitment, and once we have a lot of agents involved, with their locations and phone/email plot a course (with enough people the ufo's path could be quite interesting). Don't reveal the day of the mission until that morning, and send everyone their individual call-times, but not the master path. Here's the important part: The purpose of this mission is to pull a prank on the media, ideally they'll find it funny and will enjoy following the spacecraft as it flies around the country. Hopefully they'll enjoy it so much that they share it with everyone else. I suggest that individual callers place calls to both local and national news, when the big story breaks, then local papers will get a laugh cause they were part of it.
Finally, I suggest that we give one media source, probably something like The Daily Show, 'the scoop' on the morning of the mission, reveal our entire plan to them, so if the plan works, the story can be 'out' as quickly as possible, that way we won't have to worry about the mission being dragged out as the media tries to figure out the details.
I think the hardest part of this mission will be recruiting, but we should definitely do it.

I think going with the USS Enterprise would automatically label it a prank in most media outlets eyes. We should just come up with a suitable, creepy UFO-ish description to use. It'll credit more if we all describe about the same thing THATS for sure....and we should all hit more local stations and not just concentrate our calls on one or two large media centers.
I think labeling it as a prank might be better. You could mix the two, however, and have some people call saying "it's totally the USS Enterprise, I'm not kidding!" and others call saying "It's like a pie tin with some parts coming out the back (describing the enterprise the way a nontrekkie would)". This would cast a bit of doubt on the prankness of it I think, and make the whole thing more entertaining.
We could use Wayfaring to keep track of everyone's locations, then plot a flightpath from there... If that sounds good, I've already set up an account there. Username is ieglobal, password is ufo. If you log in, then click the "My Wayfaring" tab, there's a map set up called "Flightpath"... you can enter in your location with your agent name. I've already set up the first waypoint (Agent Penhaligon in Vancouver, BC).
Of course, if anyone wants to set up something similar somewhere else, feel free!
However, if we are going to do this, we must be careful about what we say it is. The USS Enterprise is actually an active duty aircraft carrier as well. Some people who don't know the name of the ship from Star Trek might not understand. Although, it could be funny to see reactions from people thinking an aircraft carrier is in the sky. XD
If we can get many more people involved and decide on a date and time, I'd certainly do my part.
Cool idea, but i don't like the "mysterious object" payload. Let's control the object to meet our ends. Maybe everyone sights the USS Enterprise or the Death Star? The Monolith? Or maybe the ghost of elvis? Let's keep thinking about this.
what if it turns into some sort of terrorist scare because it always ends up being that and then someone is to blame. That's what happened to that guy that did aqua teen hunger force and those light brites. and then he got arrested and charged for liek terrorist conspiracy because they thought the light brights were bombs.
