We Cause Scenes

Daniel

Ninja vs. Pirate

First, after we get all the people together, we will split up into two groups: Pirates and Ninjas
We could then choreograph a fight scene between the two groups for like 5-10 min. or we could do it for a couple of hours. But we would need to be careful not to disturb anyone who is around us as in accidentally hit one of the spectators with a fake pirate weapon or a fake ninja star. I have always wanted to do some kind of acting and this might work.

Now the question is
WHO, WHEN, WHERE
and also who should win.

By the by, I think Ninjas should win ^_^

I am kinda stuck in Michigan for the time being and so this might be good if this sort of happened in Michigan. But it really doesn't matter. Just putting this out there for someone to try.

What say you all?

Yeah, I have talked about doing something like this in my area, on the basis that pirates would win. Oh, and since it might take a while to plan, and since it seems like a lot of groups are planning something like this, we should plan on some day for everyone to do it. September 19th is a good one, although it is a bit far away.

it's a great idea, except for one thing: a 5-10 minute stage fight would take at least two solid weeks of rehearsing for three hours a day to choreograph and learn. dancing is hard, proper stage fighting is harder. and the more people, the more work. it's also hard to make it look cool--swinging a sword around is harder than it looks. and THEN you have to take into consideration what you're choreographing: two completely distinct groups with separate acting and fighting styles.

i'm not saying it's not viable, but it's good to be aware of how much work goes into choreography.

and if you want it in your state, take the discussion to your state's local group. :)

I did post this in my state local group and we are planning this out. I just wanted the rest of the community to know about the idea so other people can attempt to do it.

And the fight scene: it doesn't need to be a lot of people. Maybe just a dozen or so, enough to catch the audiences attention. Also, we don't really need to choreograph a fight scene. The fights can take place all around the area and doesn't need to be bunched up. Also, for the Ninjas, they can just stick to a more...ninja-ish movement styles and we don't really need to choreograph that. Same for the Pirates. They can just stick to....swinging the sword. It doesn't really need to be that complicated.

Sounds like it could be fun...But its just the costume problem (if costumes are an idea. Who knows, maybe costumeless priates and ninjas could pull this off)

Yes, costumes might be a problem but I think that the pirates can just wear ragged clothing and stuff like that. Ninjas can just wear black with a black cloth covering the mouth.
I guess it doesn't need to be really elaborate but as long as the audience gets the idea I think its fine.

I think you should have it in Portland Oregon.
