Synchronized dance

I have always wished life was like "cry baby" or another musical where people start singing & dancing in unison out of the blue in public. What if we has a boom box strollin down pioneer place and people in all different places around start dancing the same moves? To make it easier we could all learn practice at home to a well published utube video clip and meet up a couple times to practice. I also think this would be cool in a restaurant! :)

It's in a completely different vein, but what about something more people would be familiar with - like the zombie dance from THRILLER? Easy to find on You Tube, a few easy steps... less trying to accommodate everyone's schedules and just pick a date and we'll be there would probably be more successful. Anyone? A 15 minute practice out of site is all it would take to get up to speed, too. It's about as easy as country line dancing...

Also, I didn't hear about any of this, is there a way you can communicate more easily to the entire Portland clan without us having to cometo the site (group email)?

Just a thought.

Hi everyone! Brand new, but I thought I'd join up and comment on this. It sounds like a FANTASTIC idea.

I sounds like there is plenty of interest in this activity. Someone mentioned doing an MP3 experiment in conjunction with this idea. That would probably simplify matters considerably. Several people (like Jon and Diana who seem so enthusiastic) should get together and come up with several MP3s and just give a day and time to meet at...Pioneer Square? That sounds like the most logical and easiest for people to get to.

Also, someone mentioned the algorithm march earlier. This sounds like an AMAZING idea. It's simple and easy to remember which is a big plus. I think that doing it for an MP3 experiment would be super easy and HILARIOUS.

Jon and Diana, I am more than willing to help plan and what not! My email is zakoolkat@aol.com. Let's chat and come up with something!

I think this would rock - how do I get involved? Never done it before

I have never done this before, but I am really intersted in getting into this. I can sing and act ( I am going to major in Musical Theater starting the fall of '08) What is the next step?

The weather is supposed to be fairly decent this coming Sunday. I'd be willing to meet in front of the Discovery Museum off the Zoo parking lot. Chances are the zoo parking lot will be full if it's a nice day. If that's the case, there will be signs that point you towards the shuttle parking lot off the next exit and you'll have to take the shuttle bus to the zoo parking lot. As you're leaving the bus, you'll be able to see the discovery museum to your left. That is a pretty good meeting spot. I'm going to go ahead and say 2 pm again. I'll be wearing a plaid hat and a green shirt. I need some people to commit to showing up, though, otherwise I won't be there. There are two surefire ways to contact me to let me know if you're coming or not. Either call me at 503-422-6581 or send me an e-mail at Scipiotgreat@hotmail.com. Make sure you put "Synchronized Dance" in the subject line becuase I have a very strict junk mail folder and I don't often open things from people I don't know.

I hope to hear from some of you before the weekend. I will post back here on Friday before I leave work to let people know if there was enough interest for a meeting on Sunday.

TTYL,

Jon

Sorry I can't come this weekend. It was by pure chance that I had last weekend off. Too bad more people didn't show up. Hope it goes well.

well Saturday didn't work out very well for me either! I finally got my van jump-started around 2pm and when I got to the zoo parking lot there was no hope of finding a parking space! I ended up parking clear up on Fairview-it took me a half hour to walk back to it afterwards! I wandered around everywhere but with no luck finding anyone. I told my son to meet me in the penguin pavillion in the zoo at 3:15 and so eventually I had to give up and go join him. Next time maybe we should meet at a more specific location, like next to the train. (there's a big black train engine about 100yards to the left of the forestry center; and to the right of the new childrens museum). sorry--I tried but did not succeed.
