Another Freeze

I just now joined after discovering IE and IEGlobal in the last few days. What about another freeze, but this time at one of the 3 big malls (Washington, Lloyd, or Clackamas)? I saw the video of the one on Burnside....well done....but I don't think it garnered much attention (unless I missed it in the news). In a mall, we could all be on the same level but only in the hallways (the common areas), not in stores. We'd need to make sure we're not blocking exits or pathways. If 500 show up, we spread all through the mall. If 50 show up, we concentrate at a main hallway "intersection." Those you want to could, after the freeze (or before), take off their coats to expose their "Free Hugs" t-shirts, as one poster suggested, and have fun giving out hugs.

Yeah, the plan is to get people to just start gathering together at about 6:30.
We're going to need to be in Powell's by 7 pm.
Are you in?

See you at 6:30, Friday.

Rock!! Can you assist in wrangling some more people?

You know......

I've just joined to see if I could enlist the lot of you for the current antic on my calendar - which happens to be a Freeze! I'm so happy to see that some of you were already discussing this very idea!

We're hitting Powell's on Friday the 13th at 7:15 pm. Meeting at the Roxy before hand to walk the couple of blocks down, once organized.

This event is trying to include Couch Surfers (we've already got several involved) from the surrounding area, Portland Cacophony Society
and now you...

Say yes? Let me know soon! Someone is actually trying to get a band to stop playing mid-song, and there is noise of footage. More to come!

I just read thru all the messages so far and have a little input.
the free hugs shirts will cost money and i think pranks that dont cost any set-up is always better- you'll have alot more people willing to participate if they dont need to shell-out 15 or 20 bucks to participate.
Seems like its mostly the guys who dont mind handing ouyt free hugs; as a female, I wouldnt want to hand out hugs to folks I dont know b'cuz theres too many a-holes out there that'll cop-a-feel while getting their hug- not cool at all.
Hugging in a park near Lloyd where gangbangers are known to hang out is like standing in the freeway and expecting to not get hit by a car imagine for a minute...."tonite on the 11 o'clock news; a local improv prank turns into tragedy. Members of the internet-based acting troop 'improv everywhere' made a fatal mistake this afternoon when they showed up at a N.E. Portland park known to be a gang-member hang-out. The group showed up with the intentions of handing out free hugs as their most recent prank, when the gang members perceeved it as either a threat of having their turf taken over or to make them look 'soft' to their rival area gang. Shots rang-out for over 2 minutes before the disgruntled gang split-up and took off, leading to multiple police chases- on foot, in cars, and on MAX. 7 have been arrested and at least 4 more members were never apprehended. The improv group, known for their pranks thru-out the world ended up with 18 members who died at the scene, 34 more have been hospitalized. The worst-off are still listed in critical condition and those with minimal injuries, only 4, have already been released. Because of the large number of victims, no hospital could take all who were injured. There are still victims at Providence Portland and St. Vincents, Legacy Good Sam and Emannuel, and OHSU." I dont want improveverwhere to have anything bad happen to give us a bad name and we should make sure what we do is relatively safe. Having members injured, killed, or even groped shouldnt be acceptable anytime/anywhere. and remember, many agents bring their little junior agents (kids) along with them!
I think if we didnt have prior permission w/ a mall we could get trouble w/ management/security guards that have no sense of humor, so a public setting would be best.
Someone mentioned Saturday market as a place to do the freeze. I think thats a good idea! very origional!
does anyone know, are the press to be notified 30-60 minutes ahead of time?

Did this ever happen? I kind of scanned briefly through the rest of the posts, but I didn't really see a date. I'd be interested in doing this if we can get a date for it.

Count me in. I've been wanting to attend a Freeze ever sense I saw the Grand Central Station Clip.

However, I agree with Nicholecorp. It would be really cool if in addition to the freeze we could add in our own twist (although I'll have to brainstorm, don't have anything right now...)

A freeze is good but we should try to add a little something to it. Our own twist. Also I think pioneer square is used for everything. We should try something like the first part of West Burnside. From 2nd to 6th ave. We all freeze while the cars and pedestrians are going by. Or along Broadway heading to pioneer square.

Are you still up for a freeze? There's one being planned as we speak.....
