Idea! - Miami Beach Winter Wonderland

Ok, ever since I heard of Improv Everywhere, I've always thought this would be a great one to do in the Miami area. We would get a kick out of it, get lots of glances, and if it's big enough, make it on the news.

Description:
A group of 30+ people, dressed in sweatshirts, snowsuits, long pants, snowshoes/skis/etc., goggles, gloves, winter hats make their way to Miami Beach and for 15 to 20 minutes, enjoy a snow day in the sand!! The group would be divided into smaller groups designated to do certain winter themed activites such as: having a snowball fight, sledding, snow angels, carolling, etc. While we all are having our winter wonderland fun, we, of course, receive the awkward and interested glances from our beachgoing audience. After the time is up, someone (probably me) would ring a bell announcing it's time for Christmas dinner, at which point we all return back to a meeting point.

I will so do this, I'm free for the dates suggested 13-15, and I'm pretty sure I can bring 5-15 people with me. Depends if their parents are willing to and etc etc.

I think I've found the closest June date that would work amazingly (if we're going for a large crowd).
June 13th-15th encompasses the following events in Miami Beach:
-Zest Fest [Spicy food festival]
-South Florida Boat Show [hugest non-college crowd for the summer]
-Miami Beach Cinematheque: Films from Cannes Festival [we'll have an artsy crowd too]
Quite a few other things are happening as well on the 13th, 14th, and 15th respectively. It's all here:

But I think any time from the 13th to the 15th would be amazing for a 10-12ish time slot.

Lol sounds awesome. Too bad it's not Ft Lauderdale beach but no worries. And I agree with Nick, we should wait atleast a month before we do this or if not do this ASAP cause finals are in two weeks, atleast for my highschool, so not as many teens would be able to go, which would mean less people and less impact.

I can't do May, I mean, I'd love to do it sooner, but we're done with 80 degree weather. Today it was in the mid 90's and I doubt we're gonna be going lower than that anytime soon. Plus, I and a lot of others have school and finals coming up (if they're high school students).
Plus, I'm in Wisconsin for late May.

I think June or July would be best taking proper precautions into consideration.

We were actually tossing a similar idea to this around in the brainstorming thread two months ago. Suggestions were all over the map -- from dressing up in suits and evening dresses -- to winter overcoats. It would definitely create a scene.

And, yes, staying hydrated is a priority because if I'm donning my ski pants and snow clothes, I give it 10-15 minutes before I melt like Frosty the Snowman in the desert.

It's for that reason that you should probably go for sooner rather than later. 80 degrees in May will be more bearable than 90 in July. And while I'm a big fan of afternoon missions (it's when we did the Apple Store missions last month), you may want to schedule this one closer to 10am than 2pm to avoid the really hot sun.

With the exception of June 14, I'll be out of town during every weekend in June and the first two in July. So if it's not May (please avoid Memorial Day weekend for obvious reasons) or late July, I'll cheer you all in spirit but won't be able to make it.

I very much agree with everything.

So.. let's think about a date in June. My schedule is very much swamped so let's work out something that works for people here.
Perhaps early June would be best. I'm in Vegas mid-June.


And yes, I have considered the safety aspect. I'll bring a lot of water for everyone to drink just in case. I'm glad that there are people out there who are really considering this so I say we start to work out a date.
I think this could be the next big mission.

In think that the beaches will be the most crowded from late june to mid july. Any day at that time seems ideal.

If we do this in June after school is out and people are vacationing down to Miami, this can turn out to be great. We just can't choose a day with very hot temperatures (95 degrees or more) to do this or the heat could not only be uncomfortable, but dangerous.
I think that 10 people is enough if we all start doing the same activity like a big "snowball" fight and somebody can bring a little sled and we can start doing stuff like that too.

For this to ever happen, a date has to be set so, Nick, I would set up a date so that more members start to see that this idea is serious and agree to do it too. We also need a place to meet and a part of the beach to do this at. If everybody who has agreed to do it so far comes and brings some friends, this can cause a big scene.

By the way, I am not the same Nick that came up with the idea.

Just some more and I think we can do it. Btw, any of you guys have school friends who'd be willing to do it? If so, give me a rough guestimate of how many and that'll make the search less difficult.
