Ikea Party

Feel free to discuss GENERAL ideas about the Ikea Cocktail party here... But as usual, don't post details, since we do like to keep these events secret. :)

I forgot to mention that if it were my party, which it is, there will be no "game" watching. Besides, ikea has cardboard televisions. It will be a REAL social gathering on our part.

I guess that would work. I would think, though, that we'd all rather get to know each other better as it will be a REAL social event.

In my experience cops shut parties down. If I see a party crasher, I'll politely ask them to leave. If confronted by an ikea employee, one should direct them to the host where they will be addressed as "officer" and I will promise to keep the noise down. When they shut us down, I would announce that "Okay, a neighbor called the fuc*ing cops so y'all have to go home."

I don't think we should treat the customers like that, asking them to leave. We don't want to do something that is negative towards IKEA's business. The workers there have always been pretty cool about people messing around in the store.

Nah, it would be more like: "So how do you know Jennifer?" They'll be confused. "So how did you get invited to this party?" Kind of confusing them like that, staying in character all the time. I think they will just leave on their own. I don't mind interacting with the customers, but I wouldn't go out of my way to invite them in any more that I would a stranger walking by my place during a real party.

Wow, it's own thread, cool. First of all don't worry about being a non-drinker George. I used the term "cocktail" perhaps too liberally as to just convey an idea. If people want to drink, I'm not against it, but I will be drinking red bull or soda. Maybe it'll be BYO.

As for the dress, I was really thinking it would be like a casual "house warming" scenario which would inspire such conversation as "I love what you've done with the place" and "Did you get this at Ikea?" "We found it in the fuk*d up section." Two agents (perhaps Agent Orange and I) will play the part of the residents so as to give the other agents a focus for conversation, especially when it comes to asking shoppers in our kitchen how they know the hosts, etc. (I'm not planning on "dressing up" but do as you would do. Diversity is good.)

Keep the ideas coming, I only ask that we keep it simple and fun. I agree on the mood music and I have a great playlist of good lounge songs. A goal would be to try and maintain the party as long as we can before getting kicked out. There will be a meat and cheese platter.

Housewarming gifts are not necessary, but if you insist, have them just be something from ikea.
