GurilLA brainstorm

since people like to add 'hey I like your idea, how about this one' to existing threads, why don't we have a master brainstorm thead... so here it is. ideas for missions discussed, chewed, mulled, spit and perhaps even considered.

when thinking about a mission we should consider all angles, the action, the reaction and the documentation. we should ask the questions: does it move me, is it fun, or simply funny, will it cause a spectator to question breadth of his or her existence? let's consider the lasting impact of gurilla improv upon the LA landscape.

have at it folks,

How about a Christmas in July Parade down a busy street. Have agents dress in Christmas attire boxes wrapped in christmas paper. Santa Claus at the end.

Or

Lets get our hands on a plastic "torch" maybe one of those giant outdoor candles people use on their lawn at Christmas and run the "olympic torch" through the area using members from the US chess team or the synchronized walking team and other teams that just dont exist.

Down a busy street sounds dangerous... and illegal, I think. :/

Yeah, both. Parades require permits. Again, I love the idea of one agent with an olympic torch asking directions to China, but that's just one agent.

A stand in an elevator would be hilarious but I doubt it would work logistically.

I like the idea of selling non-lemonade things; how about a massage stand that only massages pets?

Here are some of my ideas...

A couple of smallish events:

-Have a group of people set up a stand somewhere in a city and have them give out free air samples (just a empty styrofoam cup) and invite those who try the air to buy a bottle of air (a empty bottle of water)

-This one is kind of like the first. Have a group set up around town and try to auction a person to bystanders. Name all the "cool" features the person does and then begin the bidding. Have a agent buy the person at a really high (but not insanely high) price, and after filling out a form have him load the person into his/her pickup truck and drive away.

-Have a group set up that takes photos of people with random objects (toilet paper, lamps, watermelons, etc...) for 5 dollars and have agents be incredibly excited at this once in a lifetime yet completely inexpensive experience.

Bigger Groups:
-Have a follow the leader thing around a city but instead of people in a straight line, they should be riding bicycles.

-Have people crawl around town.

-Have everyone fall at the same time.

-Start a conga line for "Conga Liners LA", a completely fake Conga Line based group in LA that believes Conga Lines are an intense form of art that has been lost and must be brought back.

1. There is a good idea hiding in there. I don't know about the air, but something. It'd be funny to have a kid with a free advice booth, but it wouldn't need a lot of agents.
2. Slavery.
3. How about having a line of agents waiting to have their picture taken with an agent just to see if tourists get in line for the fake celebrity. Similar to the fake paparazzi idea.
4. Bikes can't really get safely close together to be a follow the leader. I think there could be a cool bike thing, though.
5-6. Crawling, falling. Where's the twist? I'm just saying.
7. Conga line is basically follow the leader.

How about agents all wearing their underwear on the outside of their clothes? Somewhere interesting.

I really like the free air samples and the conga line. It'll be fun to see who joins in.

I like the photo with random objects. :)

Ha ha ha. These are all pretty funny ideas. I like the free air samples.

Book Club:

We get a good number of people, hopefully all of GuerilLA, and gather in a public place with lots of pedestrian transit and read the same book, trying to synchronize our page turning and what not; and if anyone asks what is going on, you say that you heard good reviews about the book and are seeing what all the hype is about etc etc. If we all start "reading" at the same time then we can flip a page every minute or two and that way we will more or less flip the pages at the same time.

I think people are so non-observant that they wouldn't even notice something so subtle. I like synchronized stuff, though like a synchronized briefcase or folding chair team. 2 cents.

I really like this idea, but how can we get it to a larger audience and not just the cashier or anyone who is in close proximity to them.
