Not just Taco Bell. A LOT of freezes are being used for marketing, now. The TV show Just For Laughs did two different freeze pranks. And let's not forget the Grand Central FAKE used in Law & Order: SVU.

i actually created a similar experience by accident with students on a UC campus: since most of the "common" or "public space" on campus is actually retailed space, doing a freeze was like making an ad for the businesses there. but this is a new low for viral marketing.

The next time anybody suggests a freeze or anything marginally similar to a freeze, just point them to this video and be done with it.
