IKEA Live In

I would like to help coordinate the IKEA live-in idea. The basic strategy of the prank is to take IKEA's open plan of letting you experience what it might be like to live in their spaces a little too literally. Here's the location.

Here's my plan, I figure planning about a month out should give us time to do what we want to do. I'm totally open to suggestions, and I think a Sunday afternoon is perfect timing as the store will be pretty busy but not overflowing, providing a perfect audience.

Stage 1: Scope out the IKEA and create a map with the lay-out of the various "homes" and "rooms" along with pictures to list and post. Do a walk-through with anyone willing to video to be able to plan shots etc.

Stage 2: Teams of agents sign up for spaces in this thread, and develop their planned activities. For their "household" space. (For example, a couple who is arguing about paint colors; a dinner party; a family eating dinner; a whole family sleeping as if it's midnight; some guys watching a football game on tv etc.) Planning props would also be helpful. For example, small things such as soda, sandwiches, personal care items could easily be smuggled in.

Stage 3: Sunday September 14th at 3pm all agents begin to enter IKEA, in places by 3:30pm, enact living within the spaces until 4:00pm.

In theory, 45 minutes should be enough time to really give people the effect, as well as see more than one "home." It will also give us time to try to film as much as we can.

Anyone know where we could get the plastic tags they have on everything. It would be super cool to make our own and have them attached to ourselves somewhere. Can't be too hard to mimic the print outs and have it be modified to describe us... just a thought.

Well, what we could all do is choose "houses" to live in, and it'd be like we'd been living there a while or whatever, come in intermediately and plop down on the sofas, beds, kick our feetup on the table (gently of course, don't want to buy anything because we broke it)

Spend about an hour and a half in the store, maybe turning it into a 24 hour cycle? you know, around "6 pm" go visit someone else, have a party, then go "home" and crash on the couch or bed, depending how lucky you are

Dividing the store into multiple "houses" is a great idea. We could have all the houses within sight of each other, but have them pretend there were walls in between. Then, one house can call another (this can be either real cellphone or imaginary landline) and invite them over. They then "get ready" and walk through an imaginary door and down the "street".

Oh, this is good since we don't have to fill up the whole store or anything. We could just use a couple of the "Living in X amount of space" layouts. I love the visiting plan. Maybe several famililes/couples who come for a birthday party. We could all have gifts pre-wrapped to open.

We wouldn't want to do anything actual Superbowl weekend, as that basically ensures no one will turn up. But we can do a psuedo-Superbowl party the weekend of an ordinary game.
