I read the report from up there. Bummer about the Mall. There is an area in the admin controls where you can click a wee box near a person's name that says, "ban from group." Might be time to test that out. Nice to hear IKEA thought it was cool. We've got the only SE one here in Atlanta.
Andy: I saw a commnt reference that lead me to the cues discussion you guys are having. I can't add to it there w/o joining the Minneapolis group, but can here and you can pass it on. For the Atlanta Freeze last night, we used synchronized cell phone alarms set on vibrate. Since they are controlled by satellites, they get the time from outside so are snyced to the second. People without phones watch those around them and freeze by those visual cues. Set a second alarm to go off for unfreeze or whatever you are doing. No one hears a thing. It worked flawlessly here with over 70 agents. I picked up on it from the Seattle & Portland discussions. Have people fiddle with their phones well beforehand though since our unfreeze signals weren't quite as perfect due to some people being unfamiliar with that function on their phones (me included). But everyone relies on visual cues again since once someone moves, it's over.
I'm not sure whether it will be more trouble than the humor and entertainment is worth. With how many people that will be there it will be tough to find an organizer. Maybe 5 minutes is too long, it would give them lots of time to react, the rotunda is on the east side of the mall. It is between bloomingdales and sears. Alot of concerts and telethons are held there. If something is happening that day its whrre the biggest crowd will be. I stay away from trouble and controversy but realistically I'm not too sure what will happen. No laws are being broken.
Yeah they will have a huge problem with it. I don't know what they can really do about it, I assume just kick people out of the mall. Keep in mind if you do it by the rotunda the Bloomington police station in the mall is right there. Definately don't fill them in. They won't allow it and then would have a plan if you proceed without permission.
