yeah its funny how people pick and choose what they believe in the bible.
Of the Trinity, if you mean the idea that God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit are all the same being, no, I don't believe that. It just doesnt make sense. when Christ was baptized it says the Holy Spirit descended like a dove upon him, and a voice was heard from heaven saying "this is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased" So how could (and why would) He be in the water, descending on Himself, and speaking to Himself all at the same time? We instead believe that God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit are three separate beings who are one in that they work towards God's purpose as one, like a team. The idea of the Trinity was after all, made doctrine by abunch of nicene creed writing guys sitting around trying to debate what should or shouldnt be Gods truth.

Well I wouldnt say that you should rely solely on the Spirit and disregard the Bible (which I dont think is what you were saying, but just clarifying) You just have to realized that much of what is in the old testament is no longer relevant, not because its wrong, but because now we have the higher law Christ gave in the New Testament.
Ahh yes, the Trinity. I'm taking a comparative religion class and apparently if you dont believe in the Trinity, you're not really a Christian. it was news to me! =D
Yeah we have a living prophet. actually the one we've had for like 13years died a little over a week ago. it was pretty sad but he was 97 so not unexpected, and he lived a good life and was still crazy active even the week before he died. But the new one was just announced a few days ago, we all knew who it was going to be, because of how things are set up, but it was made "official".
I'm not really sure how most Christians can ignore that there needs to be modern prophecy, thats how it was in the old testament, the new testament, thats how Christ set up his church (before all the apostles got killed off), so why would it be any different now?

yeah I got what you meant. i love talking religion, because at the very least I helps me see things in new ways, or consider things I never had, and so I can come to a greater understanding of those for myself.
Well Jesus came as a fulfillment of prophecy, and he taught that we no longer should follow the mosaic law, which by that time had been bloated by Jewish leaders from a basic law into hundreds of ridiculous rules, but that we needed to follow His higher law. So while according to the mosaic law He broke the sabbath by healing, in His higher law the sabbath is a day for worship, caring for and visiting the sick and afflicted, and helping those in need. So while it is the hearts intent that is the sin, I think it would be difficult to find someone who broke a law and didnt have a sinful heart.

I agree that you dont need a denomination to find Christ, and its certainly and unfortunately true that many avid church goers do not know him. But he did set up his church while he was on the earth, and its purpose was for members to support one another and to get guidance from his prophets and apostles, even if many people now focus more on the organizations than what they were created for.
I cant say that I'm familiar with either max lucado or It dies today, so I wont comment.
As far as cupcakes and tattoos. I change my mind way too much to put something on my body forever, even if I didnt have religious reasons. And I cant say I've ever thought about cupcakes in that context before. They dont make me fat, so i can still enjoy them. I can definitely see how obesity could be just as much a defilement as tattoos though...I'm going to have to think and pray on that one for a while, and in the mean time enjoy my metabolism =D

I do the Jesus kind too!

the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints(aka the mormons). People tend to think we're out there as well, but I find most of them just have no idea and think we're crazy or something.
